I am sooooo behind on these posts it’s not even funny….. anyways the usual Tuesday crew were out this night and Roachy and I made our way up to the chippy as normal. With a certain amout of joy it was the first ride of the year where I could wear shorts, short sleeve jersey and not freeze to death in the process.
We changed the route slightly climbing the path next to quarry lane to come down on the tarmac. A short addition but cool all the same.
From there on it was the usual Pete Pootle to past the Real Radio building with me still not making the blody climb after the church. For the most of the ride Shiela had been uncharactistically struggling and a little past the HQ of the inane the front brake that must have been rubbing all night stuck completely.
From there, as it was such a beautifl night, Roachy and I decided to follow the path straight on rather than heading left as usual with Pete and Shiela deciding to head home and in all honesty I struggled up the last climb in the granny ring.
Landing at my gaff I had that werid endorphin high and couldn’t stop talking really really fast to the long suffering Mrs Fat Lad. It was the first time since I started riding again that my average speed was above 8 mph. Probably no biggie to the riders who read this but a real mile stone for me.
All in all a very very good ride.
